This piece was inspired by the tessellating birds of Dutch artist Escher. At first glance, a clean and simplistic design is revealed to have a deeply mathematical approach, with the repetition of detailed patterns and interlocking concepts. The birds soaring together in flight represent the connection between headwear and art, with the flowing formation of this flock of birds.
The art of stencil development and the fine detail of fabric cutting, creating a shadow effect, is transformed into headwear, sandwiched between layers of tulle to form a striking piece. This is a one of kind piece with only one black and gold piece to be created.
This piece can be purchased but is not available until December 2025 at the earliest.
This piece was designed and created for the Atelier-Musee Du Chapeau Competition The Art and Manner
