What an exciting time! Spring Carnival is here with the Melbouren Cup Carnival just around the corner. I am excited to be taking part in the Victoria Racing Club (VRC) Lillian Frank AM MBE Millinery Award this year.
My entry is called Prancing Peonies is a bright and vibrant floral piece.
The shape dances around the head with wire crinoline flowers that are made from raw materials in my studio. With the bright and vibrant colour of Cup Week the palette for this piece was important so I chose a neon coral and created a gradient centre of magenta pink. Each hand-made flower has been mounted onto a wire frame and carefully placed to wrap around the head giving a point of interest from every angle.
The dress created by Two Sewing Sister in hot coral crepe fabric provided by Minerva in the pattern Vogue 1883. Thank you to the Hyatt Centric for letting us take over their lobby to capture this piece.
This piece is now available for sale here.
Here is a little behind the scene from creating the piece
