Atelier-Musee Du Chapeau in France hosted an International Hat Art Competition, in its 15th edition the theme for the year was The Art and Manner. Hat designers from around the world were invited to create a design inspired by a piece of art, to reinterpret an artwork, or even to invent a hat where there is none and illustrate how fashion and art intertwine, and how a hat may be wearable art.
The tessellating birds of Dutch artist Escher inspired the piece I designed and created for this competition. My piece titled Tesselation in Flight features a wire frame with a tulle net structure that includes a stencil shape of gold birds soaring across the brim of the black hat.
This piece will be on show at the Atelier-Musée du Chapeau until 2 November 2025. ;See more about this piece here.
