Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of being introduced to the talented James Mckerracher, a Fashion Design student at RMIT University and an apprentice at Mr Cuff. James specialises in tailoring and was preparing his final graduate collection when he approached me to collaborate on creating hats to complement his designs.
James’s collection for this label bleuú features deconstructed tailoring, and he envisioned hats that would seamlessly pair with the aesthetic of his outfits. Together, we refined the concepts, determined how the hats would be constructed, and selected the materials to bring his vision to life.
I blocked the felt hats, shaping their structure, while James focused on preparing the finishing touches and trims to complete each piece.
This exceptional collection was showcased as part of the Melbourne Fashion Week Graduate Parade.
