I am excited to be presenting a collection of my pieces at the Benalla Art Gallery this October! The series of works is called Taminick Spring.
This feels like a celebration of bringing my pieces home and having them displayed in North East Victoria. I grew up in Greta West and a love of textiles through sewing sessions with my Nan. At school I completed VCE studies in Textiles at Wangaratta High School under the guidance of Gayle O’Keefe. While I moved to Melbourne for my University and have developed my career here and overseas I love returning home to the North East.
This is views such as this captured by James Christie Media that I think of that welcome you home to this beautiful region.
The Collection on display includes a series of tulle feathers adorning headbands and straw berets along with a set of scultural crinoline bows. The feathers series was inspired by time spent in Greta West in 2020. We spent much time walking the gorgeous landscape with the sounds of the birds stirring and calling to each other.
Thank you to Katherine Hauptmann at Benalla Art Gallery for providing this amazing opportunity to me.
